Police continue to target the MaryHill Bypass area due to the constant dangerous driving habits within this stretch of road which resulted in 130 violation tickets.
Coquitlam RCMP Traffic Services worked hard to ensure that everyone made it home to see their Valentine during the month of February,
said Staff Sergeant Mark McCutcheon, Coquitlam RCMP’s Traffic Services Commander. We hope through public awareness and these enforcement campaigns we can encourage the public to practice safe driving habits.
Coquitlam RCMP Traffic Services continue to focus enforcement along the MaryHill Bypass in Port Coquitlam and Lougheed Hwy / Hwy 7 in Coquitlam as a part of HAZE. These areas have been identified as having the highest rate of casualty crashes within the BC Lower Mainland, according to ICBC statistics.
The intersection along the Maryhill Bypass at Broadway Street in Port Coquitlam is in the top 10 crash intersections within the Lower Mainland in 2021 with 135 collisions alone, according to ICBC statistics. Since 2017, there have been 858 vehicle collisions at this intersection.
