Item of sentimental value found on Gabriola Crescent
On April 25, 2024 a coin that may be of sentimental value was turned in to the Powell River RCMP detachment. The coin was found laying on the street in the 7300 block of Gabriola Crescent.
Powell River RCMP is asking anyone that may be missing the coin to please phone the detachment at 604-485-6255 with a description of the item.
Suspect in theft from Quality Foods held in custody
On May 7, 2024 Powell River RCMP responded to a report of a theft at Quality Foods. The female suspect had allegedly stolen several items from the store and left on foot.
Police located the suspect nearby and she was arrested for theft under $5000 and transported to the detachment.
The suspect was held in custody to appear in front of a Judge.
Man arrested after assaulting and threatening a driver
On May 3, 2024, Powell River RCMP responded to a report that a man had assaulted and threatened to hit a driver with a baseball bat.
The driver reported that he had broken down on Marine Avenue and called his son to come help him get the car started. The driver had backed into a driveway off Marine Avenue to get out of the way and was having trouble moving forward.
While the driver was attempting to drive the vehicle out of the driveway, the home owner allegedly ran out of the house with a baseball bat, attempted to pull the driver from the vehicle and threatened to hit him with the bat.
The man was arrested for assault with a weapon and uttering threats and released to appear in Provincial Court.
