File # 2023-23615

On November 18, at approximately 9:50 p.m., a Westshore RCMP Frontline officer was patrolling on Millstream Ave in Langford when they were flagged down by a witness who advised a vehicle had just rolled over down the street near Bear Mountain Parkway and Echo Valley Drive.

The officer attended the scene and located a white 2018 Toyota Corolla flipped over onto its roof. The driver, identified as a 22-year-old male, managed to get out of the vehicle and sustained minor injuries. The driver provided a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device with a fail result and was determined to be over the legal limit of alcohol.

The vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Driving Prohibition under the Motor Vehicle Act. This was a single vehicle collision with no other passengers.

Vehicle roll over

This driver is lucky to have walked away from such a serious collision with only minor injuries. With the holiday season upon us, we would like to remind motorists to please plan for a safe ride home, said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer.

Over the next coming weeks, you will see West Shore RCMP Frontline and Traffic Unit officers at road blocks around the Westshore checking for driver sobriety.
