File # 2023-22334

The West Shore RCMP would like to update a media release that was published last night, (October 31), regarding medication that was mistakenly handed out instead of candy. Police initially received a report that an elderly citizen (in their late 80’), residing near the intersection of Bette Drive and Charlotte Drive in Colwood mistakenly handed out their medication that was sitting near the candy bowl during Halloween night.

As of November 1, at approximately 12:00 p.m., West Shore RCMP has confirmed that the medication had been found within another area of the home and was not mistakenly handed out as it was previously reported to police.

We thank the public for their understanding. This was a concerning situation where we notified the public due to the initial belief the medication had been handed out mistakenly during Halloween, said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, Wets Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer.
