File # 2023-12071
On June 20, West Shore RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime Unit officers were near Adam’s Place in View Royal when they spotted a Chevrolet truck associated to a driver who was wanted for outstanding warrants.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and when asked to produce their driver’s licence, the driver of the truck opened up his backpack unintentionally revealing a large quantity of drugs to the officers.
The driver was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and further search of his backpack revealed the following evidence of drug trafficking:
- Approx. 10 ounces of suspected Cocaine;
- Approx. 5 ounces of suspected Methamphetamine;
- Numerous pills suspected to be Fentanyl;
- Over $2000 cash;

Additionally, officers seized bear mace, brass knuckles, a collapsible baton and several knives from within the truck. In the end the driver, identified as a 39-year-old male, was not who police were originally looking for as he did not have outstanding warrants. However, drug trafficking charges are expected to be forthcoming in this incident.
