Update: Shooting in South Surrey now homicide investigation

Surrey RCMP is updating that a shooting on August 27, 2022 is now a homicide investigation, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called.

A 37-year-old man has died of injuries, following a shooting outside a residence in the 16600 block of 19 Avenue. Police were called to the residence at approximately 11 pm on August 27, 2022.

While still early in the investigation, initial indications are that the shooting stemmed from an altercation between parties known to each other.

Several people were detained by police following the incident, and police are working to determine who may have been involved in the shooting.

Surrey RCMP is working closely with IHIT investigators, as well as the Integrated Forensic Identification Team. Police are conducting neighborhood canvassing and speaking with witnesses to obtain further information.
