Police seek witnesses to suspicious incident

North Vancouver RCMP are looking for witnesses to a suspicious incident that occurred near West 13th St and Mahon Ave on Monday, December 4th, 2023, at around 12:30 p.m.
A 10-year-old boy was walking to a friend’s house on the north side of West 13th St and Mahon Ave near the cross walk when a white truck drove by. The passenger of the truck asked the boy if he wanted candy. The boy became suspicious of the male and ran the opposite direction toward a nearby library. The boy later reported the incident to his parents and they reported the incident to police.
There was no contact made by the suspect and nothing further was said.
The truck is described as white in colour, not new or old and possibly a two door. The passenger was described as:
- Caucasian
- Black facial hair
- Black messy hair
At this time, we have no evidence of a criminal offence,
said Cst. Mansoor Sahak of the North Vancouver RCMP. We are treating this as a suspicious incident, and are asking anyone who has information regarding this investigation, to contact us.
Anyone who was driving or parked on West 13th St between Jones Ave. and Chesterfield Ave., and on Mahon Ave., between West 13th St and West 14th Street, between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. on December 4th and may have witnessed the incident, or who has video surveillance or dash-cam footage that may have captured images of the suspect, is asked to contact police. You can do so by calling 604-985-1311 and quoting file 23-25846. Police are also asking that the individual involved come forward to provide their account of the interaction.
