RCMP seek witnesses to suspicious incident

North Vancouver RCMP are looking for witnesses to a suspicious incident that occurred in the Mt Seymour pkwy neighbourhood on October 31st between 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm.

A 12 year old girl was walking in a community garden near Lytton St. and Violet St. in North Vancouver when she noted a male was following her. At some point the 12 year old became suspicious of the male and decided to run to a nearby residence. The male continued to follow the 12 year old until she reached the residence at which point the male fled eastbound on Violet St.

There was no contact made by the suspect and nothing was said to the victim.

The suspect is described as a male in his 40s having dark brown hair, dark navy hoodie, dark blue jeans, holding a dark blue backpack, wearing red and white shoes and a covid mask.

At this time we have no evidence of a criminal offence, said Cst. Mansoor Sahak of the North Vancouver RCMP. We are treating this as a suspicious incident, and are asking anyone who has information regarding this investigation, to contact us.

Anyone who was in the area at that time and witnessed the incident, or who has video surveillance or dash-cam footage that may have captured images of the suspect, is asked to contact police by calling 604-985-1311 and quote file 22-27601. Police are also asking that the individual involved come forward to provide their account of the interaction.
