The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 455 calls for service from Friday June 16, to 9 a.m. on Monday June 19, 2023. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Stolen motorcycle, man arrested

A Kamloops man has received a court date and conditions after he was located with a stolen motorcycle on the North Shore.

On June 16, 2023, members of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment Crime Reduction Unit were in the area of Sydney Avenue when they located a red motorcycle which had been reported as stolen from Pembroke Avenue on June 9. Two suspects were arrested shortly after as part of the investigation.

A Kamloops man was lodged in cells and later released by police with conditions and a court date related to possession of stolen property and driving while prohibited. Charge recommendations are anticipated as part of the assessment and recommendation process. The woman was released without process.

Man arrested on warrant

A man located intoxicated downtown was also found to be wanted on an unendorsed warrant.

On June 17, 2023, around 3:20 a.m., a Kamloops RCMP frontline officer was in the area of 4th Avenue and Victoria Street when he observed a man unconscious on the sidewalk. He was arrested for being intoxicated in public and lodged in cells. While confirming the man’s identity, police discovered he was wanted on a warrant for assault and fail to comply with a probation order.

The man was held for court and remanded into custody until June 20, for his next scheduled court appearance.

Business break and enter

Police are investigating an early morning business break-in on Lorne Street this Saturday.

On June 17, 2023, around 5:10 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the 500-block of Lorne Street where a property representative had been alerted to an alarm at a business, and arrived to find an unknown man inside. The suspect made off on foot with liquor and a laptop toward Riverside Park.
The suspect is described as a 5’10 male with a medium build and short brunette hair, wearing a camo jacket, a bandana, and dirty pants.

Theft, warrant arrest

A Kamloops woman was arrested for robbery and on an endorsed warrant this weekend.

On Saturday June 17, 2023, around 7:40 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to a theft report from a store on the 700-block of Fortune Drive. A suspect allegedly presented a weapon and began waving it around when followed out by an employee.

Several hours later, police located a suspect on Tranquille Road near Yew Street and arrested her for robbery and for a warrant related to failure to comply with probation. She was released with a court date as per the endorsed warrant. She also received a separate court date for the robbery investigation.

Stolen e-bike recovered

Kamloops RCMP frontline officers arrested a man in possession of a stolen ebike this weekend.

On June 17, 2023, police were notified of a possibly stolen bike at Riverside Park. Patrols were made in the area, leading to the bike and its rider being located at 10th Street and Sudbury Avenue. The ebike was confirmed to be one reported as stolen from Lorne Street on June 13, and the man found in its possession was arrested. The suspect was lodged in cells as part of the investigation, at which point he allegedly became uncooperative and assaultive toward officers.

The bike was returned to its rightful owner. The suspect was later released with a court date and conditions. Charge recommendation is anticipated following the investigation’s conclusion.

MacArthur Park: assault with a weapon

A report involving a person attempting to assault people with a weapon in MacArthur Park has led to charges for a Kamloops man.

On Sunday June 18, around 12:30 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the call in which a man was yelling at a person in a vehicle and blocking the roadway, then turned his attention to two other people who yelled for him to stop. While approaching the two people, the suspect allegedly produced a weapon and made threats.

Officers arrived and arrested a suspect, who attempted to evade police and resisted arrested. He was held in custody for court for assault with a weapon and uttering threats charges, during which he received a release order and new court date.

Theft from and mischief to vehicles

Police are looking for video and witnesses after receiving four reports of mischief and thefts from vehicles overnight between Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday June 18, 2023, police began receiving calls regarding the damaged vehicles, which included a smashed rear window on the 1500-block of Versatille Drive; items stolen from two fleet trucks on the 1400-block of Hugh Allan Drive; and rear windows broken and items stolen from two vehicles on the 1200-block of Rogers Way.

Break and enter downtown

2023-21592

Kamloops police are investigating a break and enter on Victoria Street West that occurred early Monday morning.

On June 19, 2023, around 4:15 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended a business on the 100-block of Victoria Street West, where suspects were reported to be pulling bicycles out of a store window. Police arrived on scene quickly and discovered a broken window, but the suspects had fled.

Evidence was collected and one bike was recovered nearby. The investigation is ongoing.
