Downtown Kamloops: fatal vehicle collision

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is investigating after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Saturday night.

On Oct. 15, 2022, around 7:20 p.m., frontline officers responded to the 200-block of Victoria Street West where a westbound truck had collided with a pedestrian attempting to cross. The victim, a man in his 40s, was transported to hospital in critical condition; he later succumbed to his injuries.

Members of the Kamloops RCMP Municipal Detachment are investigating the collision and so far, they have examined and surveyed the collision scene, spoke with witnesses, and obtained related video footage, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with this ongoing investigation.
