File # 2022-1357

Slow and steady did not work out for one man this weekend.

On Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, around 3:05 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers observed a truck, suspected stolen, travelling on Royal Avenue at speeds of approximately 10-20 kms an hour. Several officers attempted to stop the truck, which sideswiped a police vehicle before it was boxed in by those responding.

After the truck was stopped, the driver allegedly fled on foot, fought with police, and resisted arrest, before being taken into custody, said Constable Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

Patrick Malcom Schryver, 26, of Kamloops is charged with fail to stop for police, fail to comply with a release order by being inside a motor vehicle without the registered owner present, and resist/ willfully obstruct a peace officer.

He was remanded in custody with a next court appearance scheduled for Jan. 27, 2022.
Anyone who witnessed or has information related to this investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP and reference file 2022-1357.

The truck involved was later confirmed as reported stolen out of Kelowna and is part of a separate investigation.
