File # 2022-20479

This morning, shortly before 7:00 a.m., Prince George RCMP attended a residence on the 200-block of Voyageur Drive to assist with a man there who was exhibiting erratic behaviour. When Frontline police officers arrived at the house, the man was on the roof of the home with a rifle.

Police requested the assistance of a Crisis Negotiator, the Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services and Prince George Fire Rescue Services to assist with this situation. The man came safely down off the roof after a short time, and police apprehended him under the Mental Health Act. He is currently in hospital being assessed.

This file came to a swift conclusion due to the coordinated efforts of many different units, who used their Critical Incident training to de-escalate a dynamic situation, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations officer for the Prince George RCMP.

There will be no further updates.
