Police are looking for a suspect who smashed a car windshield

Police are investigating after a suspect caused significant damage to a vehicle.
On August 6, 2024, at around 10:00 p.m., a woman was camping in her vehicle along Comox Lake Road, between the Village of Cumberland and Comox Lake, when an unknown vehicle pulled in front of her vehicle. An unknown man exited that vehicle with an axe and struck the windshield of the victim’s vehicle before returning to his vehicle and departing toward Comox Lake.
The suspect is described as follows:
- Approximately 5’7 to 5’8 tall;
- Medium build;
- Wearing a white baseball hat with no visible logo and a white bandana just below his eyes covering the man’s face.
The suspect vehicle is described as:
- Four door medium sized, dark color sedan;
- No front licence plate.
Investigators are aware that there were several vehicles and campers parked near her location along Comox Lake Road. Police are asking any potential witnesses to this event, or individuals who may have had a similar occurrence contact the Comox Valley RCMP Detachment at 250-338-1321.
