The strike was reported on March 19, 2025, at 9:45 a.m., on Highway #99 southbound at the Blundell Road overpass in Richmond, BC. The vehicle involved was a commercial tractor-trailer carrying a prefabricated home.

A pilot vehicle that was following the tractor-trailer was damaged when the over-height load of lumber fell off the trailer and hit the pilot vehicle’s windshield, says Corporal Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol. The tractor-trailer stopped at the scene. The driver and the company involved will be investigated.

Traffic in the area is heavy and motorists are encouraged to monitor www.DriveBC.ca for detours and to learn when the roadway will be clear.

There are no injuries and there is no visible damage to the overpass, but inspectors will be taking a closer look at the overpass to ensure that it is safe.
