Mission RCMP are asking for information from the public in relation to a break and enter to a residential property, where a large quantity of firearms and other items were taken.

On November 14, police were called to a property in the Hatzic area, near the north end of Sylvester Road, after residents returned home to find evidence of a break and enter. CCTV footage shows that a group of offenders entered the property shortly before 2 am that morning, while the homeowners were away. They forced entry to multiple locations on the property, and stole a large firearms safe, over a dozen firearms – both rifles and handguns – and a quantity of jewelry. The offenders were well-prepared for the break and enter, and wore balaclavas and gloves.
Investigators quickly determined that a white 2018 Honda Odyssey minivan was involved in the theft. The van was seized from a property near Mission that same day, and Search Warrants were granted for both the van and a property in the Silverdale area, although none of the stolen property has yet been recovered.
Mission RCMP are asking for any information that could assist this investigation, and is specifically seeking the following information:
- Any sightings of this white Honda Odyssey minivan in the areas of Mission / Silverdale / east Maple Ridge, from November 9-14, particularly if you saw it parked at a property and did not recognize it as being from the neighbourhood;
- Any suspicious activity in the rural areas of Mission or Silverdale between 2 am and 6 am on November 14, which involved one or more vehicles;
- A discarded gun safe (nearly 5 feet tall);
- Anyone attempting to sell firearms or jewelry under suspicious circumstances.
There continues to be an active investigation into the matter, although there have been no arrests or charges to-date. Anyone with information should call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
