Update on house fire

 Shortly after 3 PM on Wednesday November 20, 2024 City of Nanaimo Fire and Rescue crews recovered the body of a deceased person from the house fire that occurred at 1019 Old Victoria Road.

The Nanaimo RCMP were advised and are continuing with their investigation along with the BC Coroners Service. At this time based on evidence gathered by fire and police investigators, there is nothing considered suspicious about the fire. The scene is still being secured but only for insurance purposes as it is considered an insecure premise.
