Halloween Trick or Treat Party at BOOchanan Square returns for 2024!

Fall is officially here and as we move into Spooky Season, Coquitlam RCMP is inviting the public to attend our second Halloween Trick or Treat Party at BOOchanan Square on October 31, 2024.

The 2024 Halloween Trick or Treat party will be held on October 31 from 1:30pm-5:30pm at Buchanan (BOOchanan) Square between City Hall and the Coquitlam RCMP Main Detachment at 2986 Guildford Way, Coquitlam. RCMP, Coquitlam Fire, CFSEU, BC Transit Police, Coquitlam Bylaws, ICBC Roadsafe and more will be on scene with decorated tents and specialty vehicles handing out candy and swag to the little ghosts, ghouls and goblins!

For 2024, Coquitlam RCMP have also partnered with SHARE Society to collect food and cash donations at the party. There will be music and activities so come by and kick off your Halloween in style!

The first official event was held on Halloween last year, but was borne from an idea Constable Sandra Morse had in 2021 while working General Duty.

My watch was scheduled to work Halloween night and I thought it might be a fun idea to set up a tent at the detachment to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters and engage with the public, she says.

In 2023, when she was transferred to the Community Response Team, Constable Morse saw an opportunity to take that idea and make it even bigger and better.

We had 9 different agencies participate in 2023 and had approximately 500 kids come by, which was much more than expected, Constable Morse said. We even had to run out and get more candy halfway through!
