Seeking witnesses to alleged hit and run of a cyclist

Richmond RCMP seeking witnesses or dash cam footage for an alleged hit and run of a cyclist.

On October 5, 2024 at approximately 7:00 p.m. Richmond RCMP officers came upon a man who was on the ground screaming. The man advised officers he was riding his bicycle Southbound on Gilbert Rd, crossing the intersection of River Rd, when he was struck by a white pick-up truck.

According to the cyclist, the truck turned left onto Gilbert Rd from River Parkway and collided with his bicycle. The truck was las seen driving Southbound on Gilbert Rd.

The cyclist was transported to a local area hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Unfortunately, the cyclist was unable to obtain the licence plate of the vehicle and no immediate witnesses were located in the area. Richmond RCMP have canvassed the area for video surveillance but to date none has been located.

Richmond RCMP is asking anyone who was in the area of Gilbert Rd and River Rd between 6:45 p.pm and 7:15 p.m. on October 5, 2024 to review their dash cam footage. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2024-31734.
