On October 17, 2024, West Shore RCMP responded to a report of stolen and damaged driftwood art that was displayed near the 3000 block of Ocean Boulevard in Colwood.

Three driftwood art sculptures, a kingfisher, a squirrel and hummingbird were stolen. A fourth driftwood sculpture, in the form of an owl, was damaged. Police believe the theft and mischief took place sometime in the last month.

Update: On October 25, West Shore RCMP recovered 2 out of the 3 sculptures. The kingfisher and squirrel have been recovered and returned to the artist who created them. Police are still looking for the 3rd hummingbird sculpture.
