Fatal collision on Highway 3

On October 13th, 2024, at 4:50 p.m., Cranbrook RCMP, with the assistance of BC Highway Patrol, BC Ambulance Service and Search and Rescue, responded to a report of a two-motor vehicle collision on Highway 3 near Coopman Rd. The Investigation revealed the driver of a silver sedan crossed the centre line, colliding with a red GMC pickup truck. The male driver of the silver sedan died on scene. The occupants of the pickup truck were treated at East Kootenay Regional Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

This is yet another tragic addition to our highway fatalities, says S/Sgt Barry Graham. Our condolences go out to the friends and family of the deceased.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Anyone with dash cam footage leading up to and including the collision are asked to contact the Cranbrook RCMP non-emergency line at 250-489-3471.
