Large quantity of drugs seized from impaired driver wanted on Canada wide warrant

On September 21, at approximately 11:00 a.m. West Shore RCMP Frontline Officers attended the 2600 block of Deville Rd in Langford for a report of an unconscious male in the driver’s seat of a Dodge Ram pick-up truck parked near this location.
Officers attended the scene and checked on the wellbeing of the driver who was unconscious and had drug paraphernalia on his lap. The driver was woken up and showing signs of drug impairment.
The suspect, who is identified as a 40-year-old male was arrested for drug impaired driving and was also a Parolee who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for being Unlawfully at Large.
Police searched the vehicle and seized the following evidence relating to drug trafficking:
- Approximately 12 ounces of suspected Cocaine;
- Approximately 6 ounces of suspected Fentanyl;
- Approximately 3 ounces of suspected Methamphetamine;
- Approximately ¼ liter of Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (commonly referred to as GHB);
- Drug packaging and weighing materials.

Police are continuing their drug trafficking investigation and will be forwarding a detailed report to Crown Counsel for consideration of criminal charges. The suspect was held locally and transferred back into the custody of Correctional Services Canada.
