Police investigate early morning fire

In the early hours of August 21, 2024, frontline members of the Comox Valley RCMP were called to a fire on the 300-block of Old Island Highway in Courtenay.

The Courtenay Fire Department arrived promptly, brought the fire under control, with no injuries being reported.

RCMP investigators from the Integrated Forensic Identification Section and Comox Valley Major Crime Unit attended the scene. After a thorough examination of the evidence at the scene, they did not locate any evidence to suggest the fire was intentionally set and it does not appear to be suspicious or criminal in nature at this time.

The Comox Valley RCMP would like to extend thanks to all of the first responders for their swift action and to the community for their cooperation during the incident.
