Drug impaired driver crashes into parked vehicle

On June 16 at approximately 8:37 p.m. West Shore RCMP Traffic Unit and Frontline officers responded to a report of a collision near the 1200 block of Nova Court in Langford.
Police attended the scene and determined a 2007 BMW 335X had smashed into the front end of a 2022 Kia Carnival that was parked on the road. Video surveillance obtained by police showed the BMW driving erratically on the wrong side of the road prior to the collision.

Police observed the driver of the BMW, identified as a 26-year-old man, was exhibiting symptoms of drug impairment. A Standard Filed Sobriety Test was conducted for the driver in which he preformed poorly. Additionally, Cannabis was located inside the vehicle within reach of the driver.
The Driver was issued the following:
- 24-hour prohibition from driving;
- Vehicle towed and impounded;
- Violation ticket driving without due care and attention - $368, 6 penalty points;
- Violation ticket for Adult operating vehicle while in personal possession of cannabis contrary to Act - $230.
