Driver experiences medical emergency on Trans Canada Highway

On May 21 2024, at approximately 10:18 a.m. West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle going off the roadway and stopping in the meridian on the Trans Canada Hwy near the Helmcken Rd off ramp.

Police and BC Emergency Health Services attended the scene. The vehicle was a flat deck tow truck being driven by a 49-year-old man who was determined to have had a medical emergency while driving. Emergency personal attempted life saving measures however, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The BC Coroner’s Service was notified and there is no foul play suspected in this death. West Shore RCMP extends their condolences to the driver’s family and friends.
