File # 2023-7698

On October 18th at 4:05 am the Sunshine Coast RCMP received a report from the Canadian Tire in Wilson Creek of a break and enter to the store at 4380 Sunshine Coast highway.

The RCMP responded and found a door had been pried open and two locked cabinets containing outdoor gear, air rifles and knives had been shattered.  Approximately 20 MotoMaster, Certified, and NOCO brand battery booster packs were stolen along with multiple other items such as a Celestron telescope, a Lincoln electric wire feed welder, sleeping bags and Canvas outdoor string rattan lights.

On October 19th during an unrelated traffic stop and arrest of a local male, a black pistol was observed laying on the drivers side floor mat.  It was determined that although the pistol looked almost exactly like a Glock firearm, it was an airsoft pistol, later found to have been one of the items stolen from the Canadian Tire break and enter.  The male was arrested on multiple offences and the vehicle was seized and a search warrant was approved for a search of the vehicle which resulted in further stolen property being recovered.

Video surveillance captured multiple people leaving the parking lot onto the highway heading toward Sechelt with shopping carts believed to be full of the stolen items.  If anyone has any information about this offence or witnessed anything suspicious near the Canadian Tire between 3:00-4:00 am on October 18th they are asked to contact the Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266.
