Williams Lake and Alexis Creek RCMP investigate weapons offence

On Thursday, August 17, 2023 RCMP received a report of a person unlawfully in possession of a firearm on the Anaham Reservation in Alexis Creek. The suspect, a known violent offender, was seen in a vehicle with a firearm. The suspect vehicle was located however fled from the police when they attempted to apprehend the suspect.
Police had received information that the suspect was seen over the course of a few days, at a residence with a firearm. On Wednesday, August 23, 2023 the suspect was located in a residence in Williams Lake. Due to the potential risk of firearms being present, the Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called to assist with the high-risk arrest.
Containment of the residence was established and attempts were made to have the suspect exit the home on his own were unsuccessful. Police obtained a warrant to enter the residence. The suspect was arrested without further incident and is custody awaiting a court appearance.
