Volunteer Opportunities

Langley RCMP Detachment is now accepting volunteer applications!

If you have:

6 hours a year - Organize a Block Watch on your block or in your building. Neighbors looking after neighbors to help reduce the incidence of property crime, such as break-ins, property damage and auto crime. Please call the Block Watch coordinator at 604-532-3213.
4 hours a month - Join Speed Watch. Volunteers monitor the speed of traffic in School and Park Zones as well as other "problem areas" to reduce incidents of speeding. The program also collects data for the RCMP Traffic Department. Call 604-532-3212 or drop in to your local Community Police Office
7 hours a month - Join the Citizens Patrol. RCMP trained patrol volunteers observe and report suspicious activity using radio communication and observation equipment. Be the "Eyes and Ears" for RCMP; call 604-532-3212. Applications are available at your local Community Police Office

Basic requirements

Speed Watch/Cell Watch
- Working together with ICBC these educational programs are aimed at reducing incidents of speeding and distracted driving
Foot Patrol
- Using statistical data volunteers are deployed to areas where high incidents of criminal activity is occurring
Vehicle Patrol
- Observing and reporting suspicious activities is the focus of the vehicle patrol volunteers

Block Watch Program
- Neighbourhood blocks either single family or apartment/townhome communities come together to network with each other. Information is shared with participants of the block, on suspicious activity and how to report to the police; helping to reduce or prevent criminal activity.
Crime Free Multi Housing
- CFMH is designed to help residents, owners, and managers of rental property keep drugs and other illegal activity off their property. Similar to the Block Watch program, the coordinator works with the property or building manager to ensure safety measures are taken, social gatherings are held and residents are educated on crime prevention procedures.
